Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me by Frank McGuinness.

 

It’s a story of an American, an Irishman and an Englishman. The three men were taken hostage in Beirut without knowing the real reason. They are forced to be together in a cell; either get along together or not, and to try to build a unique human relationship.

In the play we follow each of the characters with different personality and nationality dealing with the new circumstances.

Each has to deal with many issues: danger, fear, love, acceptation, frustration, anger, desperation hope and in sum it’s a matter of death & life.

The play is also about identity, which all the characters are struggling with all the time.

In such a situation everybody necessarily starts to reassess himself in different ways, and to question himself about many things he’d taken for granted until then.

Both the play and the production bring in lots of humor both in the contrast of the characters and in the way they handle their ordeal.
